Sal Icaza

Chairman Maryland Osprey and Nature Festival.

Mr. Icaza is a retired real estate developer and was a senior executive for major hotel brands such as Hilton Hotels.  He was also the Chief Development Officer for HTW Hotels (now Cherry Cove Land Development) a company he helped build from the ground up.  Mr. Icaza is a professional photographer and teacher at Solomons Island Photography.  Mr. Icaza earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Memphis.  He’s married to Johanna Icaza, and they have four college age kids. Often you will find Sal and Johanna walking and photographing the Drum Point Beach.

Chris Eberly

Chris Eberly is Executive Director of the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership (MBCP). A Marylander by birth, he worked in the computer industry for 11 years before returning to graduate school at the University of Georgia. After receiving a Master of Science degree in natural resources and ornithology, Chris coordinated the Department of Defense’s bird conservation program (DoD Partners in Flight program) for 17 years, served as Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory in Texas, and was excited to return to Maryland to head up MBCP in 2016. Chris is effective at building partnerships and likes to connect people with nature through birds. He co-founded Frontiers in Ornithology: A Symposium for Youth and the Maryland Bird Conservation Symposium. Chris is currently president of the Anne Arundel Bird Club.

Greg Klesch

Greg is a retired Navy helicopter pilot and works as a contractor performing operations research and program analysis at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Since his first love is biology and he enjoys connecting with nature, his wife, Georgiana, suggested they participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count at the Indian Head Rail Trail. That’s where he was introduced to the Southern Maryland Audubon Society. Greg currently serves on the Conservation Committee as a representative for St. Mary’s County and has also volunteered for various Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership efforts such as the Bald Eagle Nest Monitoring program.

Rick Smith

Rick is a retired Research Scientist with the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense and has published extensively in his field of research. He has served as a US representative to multiple International and National Scientific Working Groups/Committees/Review Panels. Rick is the current President of the Maryland Geological Society and a Past President of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society-Chesapeake Chapter. He assists with a Calvert Nature Society research project to survey the dragonflies and damselflies of Calvert County and is the monitor for the Bald Eagle nest CT-018 near his home in Lusby.


Antoine White

Mr. White was born and raised in Calvert County. He attended school at Prince Frederick Elementary, Calvert Elementary, Calvert Middle School and graduated from Calvert High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he not only served his country, but also continued his education in Civil and Electrical Engineering. He used this training in the military, received his Power Line Certification through the State of Maryland, and built a 25-year career with SMECO. He currently works with Universal Mortgage & Finance as a Mortgage Broker.

For the past 30 years, Antoine has been a very active member in his community and has served in various capacities through many organizations. He holds certifications in: Embracing Diversity, Coaching Team Building, Communication, Violence & Bullying, Multi-Cultural Diversity, and Conflict Resolutions. These certifications have enhanced his service to the following organizations: The United Way of Calvert County, Community Mediation Center of Calvert County, Calvert County Interagency Council, Rotary Club, Calvert Collaboration for Children and Youth, Asset Development Trainer, Maryland Basketball Officials Association, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Freemasonry, Executive Director and Founder of Dance Empowerment, Coach of many sports throughout the county (t-ball, soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, and football). He has also served with several political groups and youth ministries as well.

Johanna Icaza

Johanna Icaza is A U.S. Navy Veteran, and currently works for Calvert County Public Schools.  Johanna is the owner of Solomons Island Photography.  She also serves on the Board of Directors, Drum Point Club, Treasurer.   Johanna and Sal have four college age kids. 

Mike Hart

Elected to the Board of County Commissioners in 2014 representing Calvert County District 1. He is serving his second term. Commissioner Hart is a businessman with over 26 years of experience. He currently owns and operates Patuxent Wine and Spirits in Lusby. Commissioner Hart is a longtime, active supporter of many charitable and educational organizations in Calvert County and continues to support those activities. Commissioner Hart resides in Lusby with his wife and family.


Chris McNelis

Chris McNelis is an Associate Broker & REALTOR® at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty. Chris is also the Team Leader for McNelis & Associates real estate team. This team of REALTORS offers multiple layers of Client care with Chris at the helm.

Chris’s extensive background with both residential and commercial real estate means she has strong connections with the Southern Maryland business community and far reaching relationships with clients, colleagues, and support professionals.

Chris is a guide for non-local businesses with their acquisition of property (commercial and residential), their development, and their relocation.

Her 30+ year full time career in real estate has been one of significant growth in Southern Maryland. She provides exceptional real estate marketing, sales, and services in Calvert, St. Mary’s, Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Charles Counties.

Tim Hansen

Tim Hansen holds a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Washington State University and a B.S. in Fisheries Science from the University of Washington.  Mr. Hansen is an expert in seafood regulation, having served as Chief of the Policy Branch for the Office of Seafood of the Food and Drug Administration in Washington D.C. Tim is an avid outdoorsman and serves on the Board of Directors for the Drum Point Club.
